Literally the best, freshest, greenest grass I could even hope for. I would sleep on this grass. You could have a picnic and not even need a blanket. Their service is out of this world! The friendliest staff you will ever meet… not to mention they’re some lookers! Especially the young Hobbs boy, Austin! I’m not usually one for giving out 5 stars, but Hobbs Turf Farms… you deserve it :)

Maddy P.

It was a bit of a drive for us to pick up sod from Hobbs Turf Farms, but it was DEFINITELY worth it. The sod is beautiful. Very healthy. However, the best part about it was the weight. Weirdly it was very lightweight and easy to work with. My boys even commented that they remember sod being a lot heavier. We only laid two pallets, but I would highly recommend Hobbs Turf Farms. The price and service was great and the product was amazing. Thank you!

Eagle Mountain, UT Sod: Frequently Asked Questions

Is your Kentucky Bluegrass sod suited for Eagle Mountain’s arid, high-desert climate and wind?

Yes, perfectly. Eagle Mountain sits in a high-desert environment known for heavy clay, rocky soil, and persistent winds that sweep across the valley. Our premium Kentucky Bluegrass blend is grown locally to be naturally acclimated to these exact conditions. It develops an exceptionally dense, interlocking root system that serves as a heavy anchor against wind erosion and prevents topsoil from drying out, giving you a tough, resilient lawn that handles the elements.

How should I handle the heavy clay or rocky soil in Eagle Mountain before my sod arrives?

Soil preparation is the most critical step for success in Eagle Mountain. Because the native dirt is often packed with heavy clay and rock, we highly recommend tilling the area to a depth of 2 to 3 inches and adding a layer of nutrient-rich topsoil or compost before installation. This gives the new turf roots an easier path to penetrate deeply into the ground, which is essential for surviving the hot Utah summers. For a step-by-step breakdown, check out our Pre-Installation Prep Guide.

How do I properly water new sod under Eagle Mountain's water conservation guidelines?

Eagle Mountain has strict water conservation rules, but local guidelines allow for necessary exemptions to establish new turf landscaping. For the first two weeks, you must keep the sod and underlying soil consistently moist with frequent, short watering cycles. Once the roots “knit” into the soil (around week 3), you can transition to a water-wise schedule. We highly recommend using our Cycle and Soak watering method—splitting your watering into shorter intervals an hour apart—to prevent water runoff and force roots to grow deep and drought-resilient.
